Efficiency is the ability of a financial institution to keep its cost of services low. Keeping cost of services low means not passing on additional costs to clients in the interest payments they make. Again, SCCI is able to maintain cost of operations low.

Administrative costs such as cost of personnel, transportation, communication etc. are kept at a constant rate of 2% of the loan portfolio. This makes SCCI's operations extremely efficient. This is made possible by banking on SEDPI's knowledge base of SCCI's clients and uses this knowledge base to perform its credit appraisal. It alsi utilizes information gathered by SEDPI in delivering capacity building services clients as a means of monitoring its clients.

SCCI does not provide high loan loss provisions since all of its portfolio are current. It also maintains good mixture of sources of funds to finance its portfolio that effectively reduces cost of funds.
