- July 30, 2004: SEDPI was established as a private organization composed of young and dynamic social entrepreneurs previously employed in non-government organizations. Its niche is to provide management services for microfinance institutions and microenterprises.

- December 2006: Inked partnership with World Wildlife Fund to estbalish microfinance operations in environmental hotspots and mobilize social investments
- March 2007: delivered the first three trainings of the Diploma in Microfinance for the Central Bank of Nigeria
- June 2007: delivered financial literacy training to migrant organizations in the Netherlands
- July 2007: attended the experts' meeting on remittances and microfinance for the Interational Network of Alternative Financial Institutions in Burkina Faso
- September 2007: completed the Diploma in Microfinance to the Central Bank of Nigeria
- November 2007: SEDPI President and CEO invited to share experiences in Microfinance, Remittances and Financial Literacy in Luxembourg
- December 2007: SEDPI's alternative finance reached PhP 8M and spinned of as a separate institution devoted solely to service microentrepreneurs, social entrepreneurs and emerging microfinance institutions
- January 2008: First international study tour organized in the Philippines to showcase the Philippine microfinance experience
- April 2008: Conducted training in Indonesia on Remittance Operation; Central Bank of Nigeria institutionalizes the Ateneo Diploma Course as a regular capacity building program for its staff
- May 2008: Conducted financial literacy training in Luxembourg and Belgium
- September 2008: Cordaid partners with SEDPI and SEDPI Capital to leverage remittances for development through financial literacy and capacity building for small and emerging microfinance institutions
