Barbara Cristina J. Pineda
Faculty Member, Ateneo de Manila University

Trina Pineda has worked in the social development sector since graduating from the Ateneo de Manila University. Her familiarity with development work and exposure to microfinance in the provinces has led her to take a more active interest in the field.

She has recently completed her Master’s Degree in Industrial / Organizational Psychology. Trina lends her experience in research, human resources, and communications to the conduct of trainings and impact assessments to clients’ microfinance initiatives. She likewise serves as a pillar for the delivery of training courses for the Ateneo Microfinance Capacity Building Program. Primarily responsible for developing structured learning experiences for the participants, Trina incorporates well adult learning techniques in the training design of various course offerings. She has helped organizations tighten up their human resource policies and come up with appropriate schemes to motivate microfinance management and staff. As a firm believer that the greatest resource of any organization is its people, Trina lends her expertise in developing skills and knowledge of development workers.


 

Kathlyn Louis Ong
Board Member (SEDPI)

Faculty Member, Ateneo de Manila University


Kathlyn finished her Baccalaureate Degree in Humanities at the Ateneo de Manila University and then her Master’s in Social Entrepreneurship for Social and Development Workers at the Asian Institute of Management. She currently teaches microfinance and social entrepreneurship at the Ateneo de Manila University.

Kathlyn’s background in microfinance is implementing a microfinance program in Cagayan de Oro City, under Mindanao Capital Corporation, replicating Bangladesh’s ASA methodology. She brings her experience as founder and manager of a microfinance institution in the Ateneo Microfinance Capacity Building Program. Kathlyn is an expert in troubleshooting delinquency problems, employing internal control measures and designing financial products appropriate for the enterprising poor.


 

Maryann Lucille Sering
President, Siargao Bank, Inc.

Board Member (SEDPI)


A lawyer by profession, Lucille Sering is the Vice President of the Rural Bank of Siargao, Inc. She finished her pre-law and law degrees from De La Salle University, and also holds a Master’s Degree in Entrepreneurship for Social and Development Workers from the Asian Institute of Management.  Aside from working on the courts, Lucille spends her time crafting policies and setting the direction of the rural bank.  Siargao Bank has one of the highest CAMELS rating in the Philippines. The main driver of the bank’s outstanding performance is its microfinance portfolio. Her expertise on the judicial process and microfinance has made Lucille a key facilitator in Delinquency Management trainings, specifically with regard to litigations and remedial management strategies.

 
SEDPI Trainers

The Ateneo Microfinance Capacity-Building Program also taps other trainers from SEDPI. They are graduates of the University of the Philippines and California State university, with degrees in Community Development and Accountancy. Their work on field even before joining SEDPI has given them extensive experience on community organizing and microfinance. As vibrant and dynamic members of SEDPI, they have conducted researches and mentoring assistance in several institutions in the country. They have also assisted in the delivery of customized trainings for various microfinance organizations.
