ATENEO DIPLOMA IN MICROFINANCE

The Diploma Course in Microfinance equips microfinance stakeholders with the necessary knowledge and skills to enhance the provision of microfinance services. The course covers a broad range of topics and recent trends in the microfinance industry both in the local and international scenes. It employs practical and readily applicable tools that lead to better institutional and operational policies of microfinance institutions.


Participants

Middle and senior level management of microfinance institutions, donor agencies, government agencies, and development-oriented business firms


Admissions Criteria

  • At least two years work experience in microfinance
  • Baccalaureate degree


Requirements

Participants are required to take these four core course: (1) Fundamentals and Methodologies of Microfinance; (2) Market-Based Financial Product Design and Development; (3) Delinquency Management; and (4) Financial Analysis

Participants must take any two other courses offered as part of the Ateneo Development Studies Microfinance Capacity Building Program. The courses are listed in the attached 2008 Training schedule.

Participants must pass a written exam after every course and they must successfully complete a project to be assigned by the trainers.


Completion

Participants may choose their own schedules to complete the four core modules and two elective modules. Customized training may also be credited for the diploma with the approval of Ateneo Microfinance Capacity Building Program. Accumulation of modules attended could either be onsite or offsite Ateneo.

Participants will be awarded a Diploma in Microfinance if they have successfully fulfilled all the requirements.

Participants will be awarded a Certificate of Completion after each course they successfully complete.

Participants who attend a course but do not pass the exam will be given a Certificate of Attendance.
